Organic Moroccan Argan Oil

Produced in Morocco, Argan oil has been used there for centuries by the Berber women to protect their skin, hair and nails. Argan oil is now gaining popularity as a ‘miracle ingredient’ in the Western beauty product industry. It contains very high levels of Vitamin E and fatty acids which make it perfect for healing many skin ailments as well as protecting against premature ageing caused by oxidation.

The Argan tree is endemic to Morocco and is known by local Berber communities as the ‘Tree of Life’. It has supported the people of these regions and their livestock for centuries.

Argan tree groves survive for 125-450 years so they are an important inheritance for future generations

The leaves and fruit sustain goats, camels and sheep and cattle live off the press-cake that remains after the oil has been extracted, making this is very sustainable and ecologically sound product.

Argan oil has a similar fat content to olive oil and is used for similar purposes. Argan oil is alot more expensive than olive oil, however the tree lives longer than the olive tree and requires no cultivation.

Traditionally, local Berber women collected the seed and pressed them to obtain the oil for domestic use. This is a laborious process taking 12-20 hours of hand processing to produce 1 Litre of Argan oil. Now increasingly important for sale, the oil will keep 12–18 months and extraction is much faster using mechanical presses.
